"Automating The Digestion And Determination Of Mercury In A Variety Of Environmental Sample Matrices"
Am. Lab. 2002 Volume 34, Issue 5 Pages 26-30
Pfeil, D.L., and Reed, A.

Abstract: Ingestion of mercury continues to be a human health hazard, particularly in Asian countries. Accordingly, mercury testing continues to be an important environmental measurement. This article describes a versatile cold vapor, atomic absorption spectroscopy technique for mercury determination that provides enhanced productivity through automation.

"Automated Determination Of Mercury By Cold Vapor Atomic Fluorescence With Gold Amalgamation"
Am. Lab. 2001 Volume 33, Issue 9 Pages 26-33
Pfeil,D.L. and Bruce, M.L.

Abstract: EPA Method 1631, which is the most sensitive of the promulgated U.S. EPA methods for total mercury, is a labor-intensive manual method that requires the analyst to manually exchange gold amalgam traps, add samples and reagents, control the analysis process, and calculate results. This paper examines an automated approach to 1631 methodology with built-in prescreening capability.
