Abstract: Sample (150 µL) was injected into a carrier stream of 22 mM gallic acid/360 mM H2O2 (2.5 ml/min) that merged with a stream of 2 M NaOH of pH 12.6 (2.5 ml/min) before measurement of the chemiluminescence intensity. The optimum distance between the injection valve and the flow-cell was 15 cm. The calibration graph was linear for 20 µM to 0.1 mM benzaldehyde with a detection limit of 4.4 µM. The method was used in the analysis of benzyl alcohol, with recoveries of 99.5-103.2% and RSD (n = 7) of ~3%. Results were compared with those obtained by spectrophotometry. The sampling frequency was 120 per h.
