"Design Of A Flue Gas Probe For Ammonia Measurement"
Anal. Chim. Acta 1993 Volume 282, Issue 2 Pages 703-709
K. Hjuler and K. Dam-Johansen

Abstract: A differential measurement system (diagram given) for the the determination of NH3 in flue gas, based on its conversion to nitric oxide was developed. The system comprised a stainless-steel flue gas probe, containing a diluter, a catalytic Pt/Rh converter operated at low pressure and a selective NH3 absorber in the converter by-pass stream, and a chemiluminescence NOx analyzer.. Sample was diluted with dry air to a dew point of ~0°C before conversion and detection (details given). Pilot and plant scale experiments were compared with conventional NH3 flow injection analyzes. Overall trends in effluent NH3/NOx contents compared well with the two detection systems, though probe measurements were consistently low. Results are discussed.
