Abstract: Phosphoethanolamine was extracted from mouse tissues (e.g., brain, salivary gland, thymus, liver, spleen and kidney) with trichloroacetic acid before determination by cation-exchange chromatography on a column (15 cm x 4 mm) of Shimadzu ISC-07/S at 55°C with, as mobile phase, 0.2 M Na citrate - HClO4 buffer (pH 2.0) containing 7% of ethanol and 0.01% of octanoic acid at 0.3 mL min-1. Fluorimetric detection was used with post-column derivatization with phthalaldehyde. Recovery was 93.8 to 103.8%.
