"Automated Method Of Nitrite Estimation In Gastric Juice"

Abstract: Gastric juice was centrifuged after saturation with Na2B4O7 and ~1 mL of the supernatant solution was analyzed with use of the Chemlab automatic continuous-flow system, without protein removal. The system contains a dialysis membrane which allows through only compounds of mol. wt. <500. The calibration graph was rectilinear in the range 7.14 to 108.7 µM-NO2- and coefficient of variation were 0.8 to 5.4%. Recovery was 97%, and saturating gastric juice with bilirubin at pH 7.35 had no detectable effect on the assay.
